Feeling stretched thin? 😩

In my last note, I shared how vision boards actually help us achieve our goals.

But if today you’re feeling like me—overwhelmed by end-of-year tasks and not even wanting to THINK about new goals—today’s Tea Time isn’t about adding anything new to your to-do list.

We’re talking about what can come off the list. Woo!

December is already full by default.

There’s the holiday baking. The matching pajamas. Figuring out what mischief or magic your Elf on the Shelf (or Mensch on a Bench) is up to tonight. Did you contribute to the teacher gifts yet? How about mailing out those holiday cards? (Oh, and before you can even mail the holiday cards, you’ve coordinated outfits, booked a photographer, ordered the cards, and updated addresses.) Don’t forget the stocking stuffers. By the way, it’s spirit week. 😫

Most of this comes from a good place: we want our loved ones to feel…loved.

But making things feel special doesn’t mean you have to exhaust yourself. (Yes, I’m talking to myself here too.)

In my vision board workshop, I ask people to identify what drains them. I ask them to name something they want to stop, maybe forever, maybe just right now.

And that’s my question for YOU today:

What is something that drains you? And what would happen if you just…took it off your list?

For me: I’ve said ā€œnoā€ to attending some holiday parties that would’ve required choosing and buying a gift, and using some of my extrovert energy. 🫠 I didn’t order matching pajamas this year…and I’ve never done Elf on the Shelf. 😬 I think my family still loves me. I think they’re still having an amazing holiday season.

So if you’re feeling spread a little too thin right now, maybe try this small experiment: Close your eyes for a second, and see what pops in your head as something that’s draining you—then ask yourself if it’s something you actually HAVE to do, or if it might be pressure you can let go of.

Wishing you some peace, quiet, and joy this week, friend.

Hugs,
Nicole
