Last week’s OOO packing list included ruffles and hiking boots:
I used to think my dream life was this hazy, sometime-in-the-future milestone. Like I had to quit my job, move countries, totally burn down my current life and rebuild something extraordinary—one luxury vacation, purchase, or experience brick at a time—and then, one day, voilà: “dream life” achieved.
But lately, I’ve been focusing on how we can stack those dream life bricks one “yes” or “no” at a time in our everyday lives…instead of postponing our joy for some arbitrary, moving goalpost.
Yes to taking a walk in the sunshine.
Yes to packing a ruffly, floral dress AND an oversized sweatshirt.
Yes to work that lights you up.
No to the “quick question” that arrives after you’ve set your out-of-office.
No to pushing your needs aside so someone else doesn’t feel uncomfortable.
No to giving your time and energy out of guilt or obligation.
Think about the version of you living your dream life. What’s one thing they’d say “yes” or “no” to today? Getting a mani-pedi? Taking a nap? Giving a TED Talk?
You probably don’t need to blow everything up and have a massive reinvention…just more moments that feel aligned with YOUR version of a dream life.
Dream lives aren’t built all at once; they’re stacked choice by choice.
What’s one small thing you could do today—one brick toward living your best life right now? Reply to let me know. 🙂
